Memberships

Awards at COP

You must have a current Alberta Snowboarding Association (ASA) membership to participate in any ASA sanctioned club, activity, or event. An ASA membership also gives you an automatic membership with the Canadian Snowboard Federation (CSF).

Membership Packages

The ASA has three types of memberships, which are outlined below. All memberships are effective until June 30.

Competitive Membership

A Competitive Membership is required to participate in any AB Cup events or AB-based NorAm events.

Recreational Membership

A Recreational Membership is required to participate in ASA sanctioned snowboard clubs and recreational events and activities.

Support Membership

A Support Membership is necessary for all volunteers and officials working at ASA sanctioned events or with ASA sanctioned clubs.

Memberships will not be processed until the applicable fee is paid to the Alberta Snowboarding Association.

ASA memberships are recognized by all Provincial Snowboard Associations. You must have a current Alberta Snowboarding Association (ASA) membership to participate in any ASA sanctioned club, activity, or event. An ASA membership also gives you an automatic membership with the Canadian Snowboard Federation (CSF).


Alberta Snowboarding Association Refund Policy

Membership
  • ASA memberships are non-refundable.
CAIP (Canadian Athlete Insurance Program)
  • There are no refunds issued once CAIP has been submitted.
FIS License
  • FIS License are non-refundable
Events
  • No refunds after advance registration deadline has closed. Unless the event is cancelled or postponed.

FIS License and CAIP Insurance

An athlete who wishes to enter FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) sanctioned competitions must have a currently valid FIS License. A FIS License is necessary for athletes wishing to compete in the NorAm events and qualify to the Canadian Snowboard Nationals. FIS Licenses expire on August 31 of every year and must be renewed annually.

There is a minimum age for a FIS License:

  • Alpine and Snowboardcross--15 years or older (born before December 31, 1993).
  • Freestyle--13 years or older (born before December 31, 1995).

To obtain a FIS License, an athlete must:

  • be a member of the ASA; Forms and payment must be received before you are able to log on to the CSF website.
  • Log on to www.csf.ca and proceed with your email address provided on the membership form and your Date of Birth.
  • Note: You will not be able to log on until you have paid your membership dues.

  • complete and submit the FIS Athlete's Declaration;
  • submit the $60 FIS License fee (please make payment to the ASA);
  • complete and submit the CAIP (Canadian Athlete Insurance Program) form;
  • submit the appropriate CAIP fee (please make payment to the ASA).

Payment for the FIS License and CAIP Insurance must be received by the ASA before the application will be processed.

Note: FIS Licenses are not activated immediately. Please allow a minimum of two weeks for your application to be processed.
